Dear Dancers,
Great job, once again! For this week’s homework, please note the following:
Admin Tasks
- Sign up for the ball for early pricing. Use this link.
- If you can, plan to come to our September 30th class half an hour early (6:30 p.m.) for some fun, simple English Country Dance waltzing. This is a chance to celebrate our hard work so far and visit with each other while performing graceful dances that aren’t as technically challenging. Students from both classes are welcome.
What to Practice this Week
1 – Natural Turn Technique
Keep refreshing the technique of your natural turns. Refer to Week 2 Homework
2 – Keep the Veleta choreography fresh.
Here is the Veleta Music. Try dancing it at full speed.
We will begin our next choreography next class!
3 – Feuerfest Polka
Review choreography. So far, we know the green portions, which constitute two-thirds of the dance! We know the Oreo cookie parts; we just need to learn the filling now and speed it up a bit.
Also see Week 2 Homework for the Feuerfest Choreography, and practice what we’ve learned so far.
If you’d like to practice the part of the Feuerfest Polka that we learned, here is the music for it.
Also, here is my all-time favorite video of the Feuerfest. Their choreography is just slightly different from ours.
4 – Ländler (for Advanced Students)
For Advanced Students, here, again is the music for the Ländler.
Here are two videos of the Ländler. Neither one is our exact choreography, but both will help you!
Here, again, is our Ländler Choreography.
We are just about through the blue and yellow sections.
Below is a demo video that Abraham and I did. This isn’t perfect, and it’s not all of the choreography (we fall apart at the end), but I’ll share a more complete video next week.
One Last Thing for Fun
Here’s a video about ballroom falls. For the record, the only person who has ever fallen during a Waltzing Wednesday class is Anna Kalinowska. Just ask Scott about it…
